COCKLES 1st TEAM could not grab the win, despite getting close on several occasions. Final score 39-44 to Brixham gives them a slim 5 point advantage going in to the second leg of the Devon Senior Cup semi-final.

A points fest for the spectators, this encounter with the Fishman saw the home side score tries from Jake Inglis, Nick Headley (2), Dave Bargent & Charlie Gibbings. Gareth Roebuck added 14 points from the kicking tee. Despite the obvious forward pack advantage in the scrum, the lineout caused a few issues, along with a couple of defensive slips, let Brixham in with a couple of soft scores. A strong fightback from being 19-27 down at half, time, the lads could not get the all-important advantage for the next game.

The COCKLES now travel to Brixham on Saturday 20th April to overturn the score and fight for a place in the Devon Cup Final with Devonport Services. They have already taken their place, courtesy of a walkover against Ivybridge. EXMOUTH RUGBY boys will be after that final place. Please support where you can. Kick Off at 3.00 pm.

COCKLES GIRLS had mixed fortunes on Sunday 14th April, in Devon RFU Cup action.

EXMOUTH RUGBY U16 GIRLS were winners, 17-10 over Kingsbridge RFC in the Devon RFU U16 Girls Plate Final. Played at Bideford RFC, a cracking game saw the young girls take the silverware over a plucky Kingsbridge Girls side. A hat trick of tries from Sophie Piper and extras from Laila Ghanmi completed the scoring.

EXMOUTH RUGBY U18 Girls, clustered with Ivybridge RFC Girls, were runners up in the Devon RFU U18 Girls Cup Final. They lost out 58-5, to a strong cluster squad from Kingsbridge & Paignton RFC. Closer than the score suggests, the Exmouth/Ivybridge team put in a huge shift in a compelling final.
