Honiton were first to get points on the board following a short period of pressure on the Exmouth line, but this was just what the Cockles needed to fire them up for the match. They were quick to level the score with a period of good passing among the back line enabling Thomas Preece to cross the line. Alec Dunstan sustained an ankle injury and was replaced by Vinnie Neath Rogers. Exmouth welcomed back Olly Jones to their squad this week after playing for Topsham for most of the Season and once he settled in he produced some good runs with the ball in hand. However the first half drew to a close at one try each.
The second half continued with Exmouth growing in confidence and in particular Ben Stuart was having a good game both in attack and defence. Olly Cowley was playing with his usual gusto and with Vinnie Neath Rogers & Blu Sandy punching holes in the Honiton line the backs, of Preece, Stuart, Luke Davis, Arron Lee, Josh Cressall & Josh Langley were able to work together to score three tries in the second period with Honiton scoring just once in reply and the match finished 20 -10 in Exmouth’s favour.
