The game started pretty evenly with both teams struggling to keep hold of the ball but it was Exmouth who opened the scoring with a great solo run down the wing from Charlie Mears. From then on Crediton started to play better and started to run things. They scored 2 trys before the break and another shortly after taking them into a good lead. Then with 10 minutes left to play and with great vocal support from their parents, Exmouth started to come back into the game. It started with a penalty 5 metres from the Crediton touch line. Harvey Beatty took it and stormed into their defence taking the ball over the line under great pressure. This got Exmouth’s spirits up and the good play continued, another try came from Jed Reid, again storming through their defence just getting the ball over the line. The game looked to be heading for a draw right there and then but then one of Crediton’s star players went on a mazy run to score a try and take them back into the lead. But in the dying moments Exmouth pushed forward and with some good rucking and passing, the ball came to Ashley Parsons who dived over the line for the try. Nick Eveleigh cleanly kicked his 3rd conversion out of 4 to equal Crediton’s conversion rate and the final whistle was blown.
