Exmouth under 11's lose a close encounter with the Exeter Saracens

The Exmouth under 11’s traveled just up the road on Sunday to play the Exeter Saracens. It was yet again an entertaining game played in quite blustery conditions. The home team started the brighter side and was very good in the scrum and in their counter rucking and it paid off when they opened the scoring. Exmouth heads did not drop and they started to play better, battling for everything and working for each other well. They worked their way up the pitch and Eddie Hooper went on a mazy run to score Exmouth’s first try. With the wind behind them, the Saracens put in a long kick and from the resulting line out they scored their second try. Both teams continued to play well in the second half but it was again the home side that was a bit more urgent in their play which helped them onto their third try. Exmouth came back at them and Exeter was on the back foot defending when Exmouth were awarded a penalty 5 metres out from the home sides try line. From the penalty, it was Eddie Hooper again who ran through to get his and Exmouth’s second try. They play swung back Exeter’s way for a while and they got another try. Again, Exmouth came back at them and it was good to see compared to some of their previous second half performances. After a few nice passes, Aaron Brigham-Jones ended up with the ball, he managed to evade a few tackles and dive over the line for Exmouth’s third. Exmouth were looking good for an equalising try but the final whistle came with applause from both sets of parents and coaches.
