So after a great win against Tiverton a fortnight ago where Exmouth won 21 – 0, and last weeks defeat against the Chiefs, Exmouth entertained Cullompton on Sunday. It was going to be good example to see if the team has improved since they have started their mid week training as Exmouth lost heavily to Cullompton in their first game of the season.
It was always going to be difficult against a committed Cullompton side but Exmouth battled well and didn’t really allow Cullompton the freedom that they had in the first game. Cullompton managed to score a couple of try’s and conversions to lead 0 – 14 by half time. Exmouth tired a bit more in the second half but kept trying and even had a couple of nice runs team but Cullompton’s defence held firm when it mattered. Another 3 try’s and 2 conversions were scored by the away team by the end to make them winners by 0 – 33. Although it was a loss, Exmouth can take some positives from the game as they played a lot better than they did when the teams first met back in October where Exmouth lost by a much greater score.
