A roll call of try scorers underlined the strength of teamwork that produced an excellent win at Honiton in the U11s match on Sunday.

Heavy rain eased off long enough for the Under 11s to play a friendly match against the Honiton team on a sodden pitch that held up remarkably well. A squad of 13 under 11s turned out to play a less experienced Honiton squad in, what turned out to be, an excellent training opportunity and a chance to highlight the skills and advantages of effective teamwork.
Moving on from last week’s slow start, the Under 11s raced out of the blocks this time around to net their first try at an early stage. Driving scrums, superb passing and serious tackles all came to the fore.
Try scorers included Liam Daniels, Finn Musgrove, Harry Sale, Ieuan Brockway and Benji Horn. But, with a win based on solidarity and teamwork, credit must go to all players on the squad. An outstanding example of such unselfish play came from Jory Salter as he ran the ball from one end of the pitch to the other, only to pass it neatly to a fellow team mate within feet of the try line who claimed the try.
The final score of 5 to the home team and 60 to the Exmouth visitors belied the effort and game playing displayed by the home team, however, ALL Exmouth players really upped their game this week and they proved formidable opponents. And in a match that left the coach with a difficult choice to make, it was the second half which allowed Harry sale to earn his ‘Man of the Match’ title; stepping up his game still further to address personal targets set in the break! Well done for taking on the challenge Harry! And well done lads for an educational and exciting outing!
