Sidmouth 33 v Exmouth 21

Whilst the final score favoured the home team, the Young Cockles made a good account of themselves and had much to be proud of. The strong Sidmouth side came storming out of the blocks to score a try and conversion within a couple of minutes of the start of play. Another try soon followed before our lads got into their stride and showed their true form, going on to deliver a closely contested game to finish on a score of 33 -21. Those first two tries costing dear.
The match proved a great start to the season with much to be pleased with; solid work in the scrum, excellent tackles and effective counter rucking. The cockles three try scorers were seasoned players Scott Acheson, Finn Musgrove and Ieuan Brockway, with all three tries neatly converted by Liam Daniels. Team effort was the order of the day, however, with some fine supporting work on display from the rest of this close-knit squad, with impressive debuts from George Smale, Keenan Palmer and Ryan Bowyer.
