Exmouth U11's 17 - 57 Cullompton U11's

Exmouth U11’s faced a Cullompton side who they knew would be a difficult team to beat and sure enough the visitors were off to a flying start with three tries in the opening quarter converting two of them. Exmouth started to gain a bit more possession but were finding it difficult to keep the momentum going and a interception gifted a fourth try to the visitors. However the young Cockles endeavours started to show and for brief periods they were able to move the game into their opponents half. New boy Zacch Lines, who has recently moved to Exmouth and playing his first match for the cockles, opened the scoring for Exmouth with a fine individual try which was converted by Ben Dawson.

However Cullompton went on to score a further five tries which were answered by two from Exmouth both by scored by Luke Davis. During the later stages of the game the Exmouth forwards were starting to gain the upper hand in the scrums but ball retention was their undoing and this is an area for self examination before the next game. The match closed at 17 – 57 and was summed up after by Exmouth Coach Mike Sprague when he said there were several positives to be taken from the encounter with a very experienced set of backs and the match was a lot closer in the second half.

Stewart Masters was named as Player of the Match. And for his persistent efforts wing Ben Stuart was awarded the Tackler of the Match shield.
