After a very narrow defeat to the Chiefs back in October, it was a pleasure to see the Exmouth under 12’s put in another great performance and this time get the better of their close rivals. Straight from the whistle, the home team put the visitors under a load of pressure which paid off quickly when Exmouth won a scrum with scrum half George Mills driving over the line for the first try. Exmouth could have had a couple more trys in the first half but missed out due to poor ball handling in the last few metres. In the second half, Exmouth’s pressure dropped a bit in periods and the visiting team got into the game a bit more. But when Exmouth had to defend they did it with impressive effort. The Chiefs did score a try eventually, but that was not before forward Jed Reid went on a steaming run knocking the opposition out the way to get the home team’s second try. And then the game was put safe with a try from hooker Eddie Hooper after Exmouth won a line out. All 3 conversions were kicked successfully by Nick Eveleigh. Man of the match went to Owain Brinkworth with a brilliant display of continued pressure putting the visiting team under pressure with every chance he got.
