Exmouth made the short journey down the coast to take on Brixham in an early ko.

Exmouth made the journey down the coast to take on Brixham with an early 1.30 ko. Brixham seemed to have put out a slightly different team to the one Exmouth had defeated at home the previous week. Exmouth won the toss and decided to play with the strong wind in the firs half. From the ko the forwards won the ball and passed to flyhalf Paul Bright who used the wind and kicked the ball into Brixhams 22. Neilsen on the wing, who scored 2 tries last week chased the kick and whilst doing this pulled a Hamstring and had to come off after only 1 minute.. Brixham who's forwards had the upper hand last week due to the size started of well and through them scored their first unconverted try. Exmouth responded well and after some good work from the forwards scored an try through Jacob Loaring, running in unopposed wide out on the wing. From the ko Exmouth put the ball back into Brixhams Half and put pressure on their fullback who sliced the ball into touch. Exmouth scored again through Paul Bright, using the same move that Neilsen scored last week. 2 dummy scissors then a pass out to James England who fed Olly Sims on the wing. Sims beat his opposite number and then passed back inside to the supporting Bright to score an unconverted try. Harry Turner scored the next try just before half time after barging his way over from short range. Tyler Wright Converted. Half time 17-5. In the Half time period Exmouth had to make 3 positional changes. Skipper Bright and Josh Adams had to come off, both having leg injuries, and Connor Clay with a shoulder injury. Flanker Aaron Conway had to play Fly half. Brixham used the wind and their Forwards well in the 2nd half and could have run away with the result, had it not been for the young cockles strong tackling and team work. Brixham scored 3 tries and 2 conversions to take a 24-17 lead. Some sides would have dropped their head after these score however Exmouth showed spirit and came back to score a team try, with the Forwards and Backs linking well to set up Ryan Poulter to score wide out. Wright just missed the conversion. Brixham finished the game in Exmouths 22 and with the last play of the game were awarded a Penalty which they converted to leave the final score at 27-22. The coaches were pleased with the commitment from the young cockles as they showed a good team spirit. Harry Turner got Man of the match. This week the u.17's have a cup game down at Wadebridge.
