Exmouth took on Brixham at the imperial ground on Saturday in front of a large crowd due to no 1st team game and produced an excellent team performance. Brixham opened the scoring through their large forwards which their Fly Half converted. Exmouth soon relised that they had to throw the ball wide and as soon as they did this Brad Neilsen scored in the corner for unconverted try. The colts started to play some good rugby and when they had a line out on the visitors 22, they used the ball well to put Josh Elliot over for a try which Tyler Wright converted.Just before half time the cockles lost concentration and let Brixham in for a converted try. Half time score 14-12 to Brixham. The half time talk was to encourage the ball wide away from the large Brixham forwards and make use of exmouth's fast backs. Exmouth started the second half by kicking the ball into the corners and putting pressure on the Brixham side. From this pressure Brixham attempted to run the ball and threw out a loose pass, which was intercepted by Olly Sims on the 22, who ran to score under the posts unopposed. This was converted by Wright. Simon Hartery scored the next try after after good work by the forwards, Wright missed the conversion. The move of the game came next, the forwards won good line out ball and Wright fed Paul Bright at Fly Half. After two dummy scissors Bright passed to Full back James England who joined the line at pace and with one man to beat passed to Neilsen who scored in the corner. Wright converted from the touch line. Brixham came back from the kick off again through their forwards to score a unconverted try.Exmouth finshed the game with an individual try from Bright. The ball was passed to him in Exmouths 22, he dummied his opposite number and then kicked ahead. After acouple of flyhacks the ball went into Brixhams try area where Bright out stripped the Full back to touch down for an unconverted try. Final score 36-19. Man of the Match went to Olly Simms. Exmouth are away to Brixham this week.
