colts v Topsham

Exmouth colts were the only team at home on Saturday and entertained Topsham in front of a large crowd and produced their best game of the season. Exmouth only had 14 players due to Devon commitments, Holidays and players dropping out at the last minute. The game was also played with uncontested scrums as Exmouth could not raise a front row. Exmouth started of well and nearly scored in the first few minutes through Brad Neilsen but for a wayward pass stopping the move.Topsham attacked for most of the first half through there big forwards and stong running inside centre however Exmouth defence was Excellent and held out with some strong tackles especially from Ryan Poulter, Josh Elliot and Jacob Loaring. The game was held up for 20 minutes due to a dislocated elbow to Topshams winger. when the game restarted Exmouh drove up the pitch and Olly Howard picked up from a back of a ruck to crash over under the post which James England converted. Topsham hit back just on half time when their flanker ran down the wing to score an unconverted try in the corner.Half time score 7-5 to Exmouth. Topsham brought some fresh legs on at half time and scored another uncoverted try to go 10-7 up. Exmouth hit back with an unconverted try of there own through full back James England after a good break from Brad Neilsen.12 - 10 to Exmouth. Topsham came back and scored another unconverted try by their winger.15-12 to Topsham. Exmouth dug deep and with 5 minutes to go had a scrum on Topshams 10 meter line Exmouths backs all lined over on the openside and this brought Topshams blind side winger over to mark his man. Scrum half Lloyd Watkins noticed the blind side was unmarked and ran unopposed into the corner for the winning try.17 - 15 to Exmouth. The whole team won man of the match as every player tackled there hearts out and gave a very much team performance
