Exmouth Colts went to Topsham with only 15 players on Saturday and lost 34-14. For the second time this season Exmouth had to play 5 players out of position, because of 9 late cry Friday night Saturday morning,due to Injury and work commitments.Exmouth only had 14 men at kickoff as one of their players was stuck in traffic in Exeter and the referee would not hang on 10 minutes for him.The cockles played against the wind in the first half and tackled their hearts out to stop Topsham from running away with the Game. The first score of the game went to Topsham after 20 minutes, when their Fly Half kicked a penalty after Exmouth were caught offside at a ruck.Exmouth from the kickoff won the ball back and some strong running and support play from backs and forwards set up Paul Bright to score near the post ,Which Danny Sampson converted. Topsham had some strong and quick runners and scored 2 tries before half time one of these was converted. After half time Topsham scored a well worked try by their winger which again was converted. Exmouth used the wind and played some territory rugby to get them self into Topsham's 22 where they were given 3 penalties on the trot. Instead of kicking the points Exmouth ran the ball and Prop Ben Hollaway barged his way over the try line to score again Sampson converted.In scoring the try Ben hurt himself and had to come off, so Exmouth were back to 14 players. Exmouth started to run out of steam and Topsham ran in 2 converted tries to end the game 34-14 winners. The Cockles never gave up and put in a spirited performance. Man of the match was Harry Turner.
