Exmouth travelled the short distance to Sandy Park to take on The young Chiefs. Exmouth went there with some key players missing and a few playiing out of position. Exmouth won the toss and decided to play into the strong wind in the first half. The young cockles started of the stronger side and played the conditions very well. The forwards drove intelligently up the park and presented the ball well to Tyler Wright, playing out of position at scrum Half. Who then gave good ball to the backs Who again used the ball well. There was a lot of good lines run by the backs especially Simon Hartley Paul Bright and James England. The latter made a 60 yard run up the park and got caught by a good covering tackle by the Chiefs winger. The forwards came in and won quick ball, which was passed along the line for Prop forward and skipper , Josh Sargent to score out wide. England missed the difficult conversation.. The chiefs came back into the game with some good counter rucking and won a lot of ball for there backs and went in twice before half time. with one conversion and led at time12-5. The second did not start well for the cockles as they lost Sonny Wright to a neck Injury, back row forward Will Siddle with knee ligaments and Ryan Poulter played the whole of the second half with an ankle injury. Exmouth struggled to win any ball in the second half and defended very well especially the back row of Seb Opie and Aaron Conway. The was only two scores in the second half , a penalty for each team, England slotting one over from the 10 metre line. Final result 15-8 to the Chiefs. Over all, considering the unavailabilities and the injuries this was a good result. The coaches gave the man of the match to the whole team for their commitment and determination not to give up.. This week the colts are home to Sidmouth
