Cockles U16's unable to breach Torquay Defence

Early pressure from the cockles led to Matt Wells making a great run beating 2 defenders before being tackled to the ground by a strong Torquay defence. With the cockles pitched inside the Torquay 20mtr line for the next 10-15 minutes and against the run of play Torquay kicked the ball down field to clear their line resulting in a chase and break away try and a conversion, score 0-7. With Exmouth again attacking they just could not find a way through the defensive line. Again Torquay broke away and scored a try, score 0-12. After a half time team talk the cockles came out firing on all cylinders with great hands from Cooke and Conway leading to Jake Gilbody scored under the post.Conversion by Flinn, score 7-12. Torquay replied instantly with a try of their own, score 7-17. With the cockles now under pressure there was some great tackling by Daryl Scholes and Matt Wells to keep Torquay at bay. With 10 minutes remaining Brad Cooke scored in the corner, score 12-17. The cockles never gave up attacking right up to the final whistle. Final score 12-17 to Torquay.
