Exmouth U16's Vs Paignton U16's Cup Game

This was an under 16's Devon cup game. Exmouth V Paignton.

Right from the start the cockles attacked and after 3 minutes Flinn converted and early penalty. Score 3-0. The early cockles pressure mounted on Paignton with a good try from wing man Mark Godfrey. Score 8-0. For the next 10 minutes Paignton's staunch defence kept out attack after attack from the cockles until finally a good rolling maul from the forwards resulted in Brad Cooke scoring in the corner, which Flinn then converted, Score 15-0. The partnership of Conway and Flinn saw a lot of quick ball out to the backs who kept opening up the Paignton defence. With 5 minutes left in the first half Jake Gilbody burst through Paigntons defence to score. Score 20-0. Second half saw Paignton catching out the cockles to score a try and a conversion. 20-7. With an injury to one of Paigntons front three the scrums had to go uncontested for the remainder of the game. Conway from a scrum drew the opposing defence then off loaded to man of the match Owen Flinn who burst through the tackles to score under the post, which he proceeded to convert. Score 27-7. The game then opened up with good attacking rugby from both sides which led to Paignton scoring a try. 27-12. With 5 minutes remaining Charlie Gibbings picked the ball up from the back of a ruck and dived for the line. Flinn converted. Exmouth won 34-12. Matt Wells had another outstanding game with strong running and good strong tackling.
