Come on the Cockles

Exmouth travelled to Tiverton for a friendly fixture. Exmouth came out all guns blazing with the wind in their favour, within the first 5 mins from open play wingman Jason Ianniciello went over in the corner to score 0-5. Tiverton had no response from the Cockles pack who dominated in the early stages. Straight from the kick off Harry Griffin caught and ran straight at Tiverton using a couple of players to bring him down to form a ruck, from the back of which Sam Conway passed to Fly-half Flinn who kicked the ball behind the Tiverton defence for wingman Mark Godfrey to pick up and off load to centre Matt Wells to score. Score 0-10. 15 minutes gone and Tiverton in all sorts of trouble the Cockles had a scrum on the Tiverton 5 metre line, Scrum-half Sam Conway picked up from the back of the scrum, beat a couple of players to score the first of his two tries. Score 0-15. With Matt Harris moving from Prop to Number 8 this gave an extra dimension to the Cockles forward play, from loose play Harris gathered the ball ran directly through tackles to off load to Brad Cooke to score, with Flinn converting 0-22. The Cockles defence stood up to a late flourish from Tiverton but held them out till the half-time whistle. Second half with the Cockles now into the wind the forwards choose to carry the ball into the Tiverton 22 seeing Conway draw the defence to off load to Jos Urmston who powered through the remaining defence to score in the corner. Score 0-27. Tiverton for all their credit did not give up and tried and tried to break the Cockles defence which saw Conway collecting the ball and kicking over the top of the charging Tiverton attack to thwart them once more and for him to chase and collect his own kick to score his second try. Score 0-32. With only minutes left Tiverton were tackled to the floor seeing No 8 Matt Harris steel the ball and pass to Flinn to score in the corner. Final score 0-37 to Exmouth. Again an Under 15 player Jake Huntley stepped up an age group and had an outstanding game at Hooker. Man of the match went to Harry Griffin.
