Emphatic Victory for the Cockles

Yet again this season the game started with uncontested scrums, with Topsham not having a fully fit front row. The game started and instantly the Cockles put pressure on Topsham. From a scrum on the 5 metre line, Matt Harris playing at 8 picked the ball up and off loaded to scum half Sam Conway to score 5-0. Then again, with the forwards dominating a quick tap and go penalty from Sam Conway led to his 2nd try under the posts, with Owen Flinn converting 12-0. Topsham were now under great pressure which led to a great break from full back Chris Skinner to off load the ball to Matt Harris who bulldozed his way over the line with Flinn converting 19-0. Then against the run of play Topsham kicked off and caught the ball uncontested and scored in the corner. 19-5. With 10 minutes left till half-time another quick penalty from Sam Conway led to him scoring his 3rd try. 24-5. Just before Half-time Brad Cooke drove over to score in the corner with Flinn Converting. Half-time score 31-5. In the second-half it saw an all out attack with great work from the forwards which in turn released the backs to gain vital ground. Matt Harris scored his 2nd try with a great pick up and drive with Flinn converting 38-5. Topsham by now were being run wragged by the Cockles, when Brad Cooke broke the line to score his 2nd try, score 43-5. Sam Conway scored his 4th try with a great off load from Dan Bradford-Jones on the half-way line for Sam Conway to burst through and score, Flinn converted 48-5. Then with 10 minutes left Cooke scored his 3rd try aided with an off load from Harris. Final score Cockles 55 Topsham 5. Topsham played a great part in the game and never gave up trying
