"A well below par performance, but more importantly a win, which was just what the doctor ordered after a shaky start to the season. The put our performance into context, it took us 18 minutes to complete two consecutive phases of play without making an error. We could not do anything right and were lucky to only be 8-0 down in the opening exchanges.
"The fact that we were missing the likes of Jack Fahy, Ollie Pyne, James Harris, Ali Hill, Henry Goldson, Sam Conway and Richard Bright didn't help our cause either. This was compounded by the fact that Ruairi Cushion played with a virus and had to be withdrawn just after half time, struggling throughout. However, it was most pleasing that we got ourselves into a winning position and had a ten point lead by converting some pressure into points in the second half, where we dominated.
"Whilst chasing the bonus point we put ourselves in danger of losing the game, and this is something we must look at as it would have been reckless to have lost the game from the ten point lead we had ground out.
"Ben Hawley, Chris Bentley and Will Goulden were superb up front, and the work ethic of Ross Morshead was also very pleasing. Ollie Rice looked dangerous in his favoured position of full back too. We were also able to hand league debuts to Harvey Ridgeway and Nick Hulatt so we can reflect on a number of positive aspects, whilst realising that we can make a lot of improvement to our game from an individual and team perspective."
