Big thanks to Ricky Pellow and the rest of the Chiefs for honouring a fixture that was in doubt a few days ago due to the success of the Singha 7's squad.
A big crowd were entertained with some end to end rugby, some superb tries, and excellent counter attacking. not to mention the hugely impressive Street Heat samba Band and a half time mascot race including Ladram Bay's Ozzie the Otter, LED leisure's Ledley and Exmouth RFC's Tryton!!!
Chris Bentley enjoyed his time against his former playing employers with a rare 'canter' in from 50m ,and a near second !!! Ross Morshead. Dave Bargent, Connor O'Shaughnessy, Richards Bright and new signing Sam Conway scored Exmouth's tries with two conversions and a penalty from the boot of fly half Richard Cadywould.
A fantastic impact from the bench from 17 year old James Mattin at 9 was one of many huge plus points to take from the game in what looks like being Exmouth's only meaningful 1st xv fixture of pre season due to Llanishen's decision to cry off from this Fridays game, and Teignmouth's decision to do the same from the 14th.
With that in mind tonight's workout was vitally important and played at a very fast pace. Plenty of work on's were identified, but huge plus points recognised from a game played in front of a very healthy crowd , including all of the Exeter Chiefs Semior Coaching staff.

Jon Hill
