On Saturday 23rd the Exeter Chiefs and the RNLI hosted a Beach Rugby Tournament at the Exmouth Lifeboat Station. 19 teams from all over Devon attended with the U10's and U11's age groups represented.
COCKLES U10's competed, having trained on the beach for the 4 previous Wednesday evenings. Good job the players did as the standard was high with some great rugby being played. We competed against against 3 older age groups and despite battling hard were just pipped in all 3.
Undeterred, up next the COCKLES were up against their own age group, with some fantastic passing & great pace we were able to overcome all 3 teams. The best display of team rugby against Crediton. COCKLES players came off buzzing!
The team did EXMOUTH RUGBY proud, heads never went down and the whole squad played with commitment and passion. Considering it was a 'touch' tournament things certainly got physical at times.
For those that haven't played beach rugby before, look out for future events, it's well worth attending and considerably more competitive than we anticipated.
BIG THANKS to Exeter Chiefs Community team, with the RNLI for some excellent and important water safety awareness lessons for the players. RNLI EXMOUTH LINK HERE
