COCKLES CHRISTMAS MESSAGE

COCKLES CHRISTMAS MESSAGE

FROM OUR CHAIR

As we come to the end of another year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what has been a hugely positive period for our club. Since taking over the role of Chairman in June, my aim has been a simple one: to continue the outstanding work carried out by Ian and those before him, while also taking the opportunity to tidy up and polish the club’s existing foundations and facilities. We set out with a clear plan to improve where we could, strengthen what was already working well, and support rugby at every level of the club, while continuing to enhance our integration into the wider local community.

Thanks to an incredible response from volunteers and the continued generosity of our sponsors, I can confidently say that — halfway through the season — we have already surpassed our goals at this stage. The energy around the club has been fantastic, and there is a real sense of momentum, unity, and purpose both on and off the pitch.

On the field, there is plenty to be proud of. The 1st XV have rapidly grown into their new coaching and management structure and sit comfortably poised in the top half of the league, with a strong start to the second half of the season already under way. Quins and Nomads are riding high in there respective leagues and have strong numbers, while the Colts continue to impress in their league, performing at a high level, with many now stepping up and playing senior rugby. This progression is a clear reflection of the pathway being created and really does stand the club in good stead for the future. Our Ladies’ section continues to go from strength to strength, showcasing not only fantastic rugby but also the values, commitment, and determination that define this club.

The Junior section deserves a special mention. Participation numbers continue to be exceptional, and the passion, enthusiasm, and commitment shown every week by players, coaches, parents, and volunteers is nothing short of outstanding. This level of engagement underlines the strength of the club’s foundations and the importance of continuing to invest in our facilities for the long-term future of Exmouth Rugby.

The past couple of weeks have summed up everything that is great about this club. From a superb Ladies’ performance in the recent local derby, to fielding four senior sides last weekend — including the newly formed Mavericks — and coming away with four wins to top it off, followed by an outstanding Christmas social event which underpins the true spirit that exists within the club, it has been a brilliant way to close out the rugby year. It is a real testament to the depth, resilience, togetherness, and community connection that defines Exmouth Rugby.

None of this happens without the collective effort of so many people. To our players, supporters, sponsors, coaches, officials, and volunteers: thank you. Your continued effort, passion, loyalty, and belief in Exmouth Rugby Club is what makes this place so special.

On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

2026... Bring it on, together

John Justice
Chairman
EXMOUTH RUGBY
