Coach Dave Bargent spoke after last nights 39-22 loss away at a strong Taunton outfit.

Coach Dave Bargent was delighted with last nights A xv performance against a very strong Taunton Titans outfit that included regular 1st teamers Barry Chapman, Charlie Walker-Blair, Jamie Fleming, Ollie Massy-Birch, Tom Claydon, Lewis Webb, Toby East, Aaron Struminski, and five ex-Cockles in Isaac Dalton, Alex Spurdle, Milo Reynolds, Jack Rouse and Ollie Rice.

The Cockles chose to rotate their squad from Fridays victory over Okehampton, and gave run outs to prop Tom Barnard, hooker James Goss, back rower Pete Ingoldsby, and scrum half James Mattin amongst others.

Bargent spoke:

"We are delighted with the improvement from last weeks game and showed much more discipline in the attacking 22, scoring two tries from forward drives. Our scrum was impressive throughout and Tom Barnard, who hasn't played at this sort of level for a number of years was the most pleasing aspect, thoroughly deserving the man of the match award. Sam Richardson also had a big game for us, and Alex Goldman and Mark Wathes looked accomplished as a midfield duo. This was a big step forward in the pace and intensity of the game , and but for two late tries for Taunton the game was pretty well matched".

The Cockles are likely to add Davy McGregor, James Harris, Dave Bargent, Lewis Cooper, Tom Whelan, Lloyd Watkins and Matt Ryan to their squad for next weeks mouthwatering encounter with an Exeter Chiefs xv at home next Thursday night , 6.45pm kick off,and hope to add a new front row signing before the league season starts on September 2nd v Lydney (home).
