The first game of the New Year saw the Exmouth under 11’s travel to Sidmouth, where both teams entertained in a fantastic game. As with the previous game with Sidmouth a few weeks ago, both teams were equally matched but it was Exmouth who started the stronger side. With some great pressure and driving from the team Exmouth gained a lot of ground and the breakthrough came with a great team effort try with Charlie Mears the scorer. In the second half Sidmouth did look to score a certain try early on but Ashley Parsons put in a great tackle to hold the ball up. Exmouth continued as a team playing for each other and Aaron Brigham-Jones was awarded for his great tackling by scoring Exmouth’s second try. Both conversions were put away by Nick Eveleigh and Exmouth were cruising, or so we thought! Sidmouth started to put together some good passing moves and finally broke though to get a try late in the game. And although Exmouth tried to hang on, Sidmouth managed to push forward and score a last gasp try with the last action of the game.
