Once again the Cockles’ pre-match plans were hit by injury to Richard Cadywould, the latest player to join the injury list, which is now 15 players deep! Eighteen-year-old Exeter College student Jack Rouse joined the bench at short notice following some impressive performances in the 2nd XV whilst Paul Morgan started his first game of the season on the wing.
The first half was one of disappointment for another good home turnout, though the windswept conditions might have had something to do with what was a stop-start affair. The teams went into the break with the visitors holding a 14-13 lead.
Coach Jon Hill clearly worked some interval magic for the Cockles were a very different proposition after the break!
A converted try put Old Centralians ahead, but parity was restored through a Richard Bright try and a George Meadows conversion.
Another converted try gave the visitors the lead again only for a brace Meadows’ penalties to complete the first half scoring.
