Skipper Dave Bargent returned to the Cockles bench following several weeks out injured and loan-signing from Taunton, hooker George Gosling was also amongst the substitutes.
Before kick-off both teams were joined by the clubs 2nd XV players and Exmouth RFC life members (the latter present as match sponsors), to observe a minute’s silence in respect of the recently departed life member John Puddicombe.
The Cockles took charge from the first whistle and looked to have scored early on when hooker Tom Emery went over, but the match official was unsighted and deemed the ball as being held up.
