Former Crediton RFC captain Ben Wonnacott signs

Exmouth RFC continue to bolster their squad ahead of the National Two season with the signing of last seasons Crediton captain, and back row forward Ben Wonnacott.

At just 22 years old, Ben was a very young captain which is something that is appealing to forwards coach Stuart Lowe, who commented:

"Ben mentioned that he wanted to try and play rugby at a higher level and we have therefore had a good look at him throughout the pre season phase so far. We wanted to make sure that we felt he could play 1st xv rugby for us as it is a big decision for him to leave his hometown club. He has been hugely impressive so far and has demonstrated a great work ethic and a desire to work at his conditioning. He is an extremely physical player and thrived in our first contact session.

"Having seen him work in groups during fitness based work, he has led others and encouraged those around him. His leadership qualities are encouraging and he has a desire to play rugby at the highest level he can. We think he will compliment an already strong back row and we are well aware of the need to have a strong squad in what is a relentless and physically exhausting league.
