We welcome Steve Perry to the club

Exmouth Rugby Club is extremely pleased to confirm the appointment of Steve Perry as new Head Coach.

The former Launceston player-coach and Barnstaple Head Coach will bring a fresh set of skills and ideas to our club. The current players, with a mix of experience and young talent coming through the ranks, Steve is the perfect fit for Exmouth who are keen to develop and progress, he also comes with great recommendation.

Welcome to Steve, Tracey and young family to our club.

Steve comments; ‘I’m looking forward to the new challenge of developing relationships and player ability. It will also be great to have my family close by supporting me and making this our club. I thank Ian, JJ and Nick for this opportunity and hope I can repay their trust.’

Steve is pictured with incoming joint Directors of Rugby. Nick Smith was 1st XV Manager and moves to DOR Operations. John Justice was Colts Coach and moves to DOR Player Pathway.

Both working together, are former club players, coaches and managers from across our club teams and bring a wealth of experience to the role vacated by Chris Wright retirement as DOR.

JJ says; ‘A very warm welcome to the club Pez. Personally I am very excited about the coming season, its challenges, to be involved with Nick at the spearhead of the new rugby structure and to further build on the foundation laid by others over recent years. Having spent the last 12 years within the junior and Colts set up I am very excited about completing the pathway cycle, integrating them with some very exciting existing home grown talent and ensuring this continues throughout the club. I believe we have a fine pool of players across the board and it will be our job to make sure all these guys develop as players and personalities as well as a team by carrying on the one club ethos and ensuring they enjoy their rugby at the imperial ground. Exciting times indeed!

Nick remarks; ‘Steve has really impressed us with his strong focus on player skills and JJ and myself believe this is an area he can really drive forward at Exmouth. We have a very talented squad of players and fantastic support team at Exmouth. There is already a buzz around the club about next season and what this group of players can achieve.’

Good Luck to all three in their new position.
