Exmouth RFC have been quick off the blocks in their preparation for their Debut Season in National Two with the signing of England Counties under 20's Fly Half Rob Avery-Wright from Newton Abbot.
Avery-Wright is an accomplished goal kicker and has some previous experience with Launceston in National One, Plymouth Albion in the British and Irish Cup and with the Exeter Chiefs Academy and 'A' league squads. He has representative honours with Devon at every age group and seniors, and has represented the South West at under 16's, 18's and under 20's. He is due to jet off overseas to play against the Georgian national side with the England Counties Under 20's squad in the next few weeks.
Exmouth RFC head coach Jon Hill comments:
"I have always been impressed with Rob every since I saw him playing for Ivybridge Community College in the AASE league a few seasons ago. He is a very confident ball player, whose goal kicking is phenomenal, and who I believe will thrive in our attack minded game plan. He has the opportunity to play regular league rugby at level 4 of the English Rugby pyramid, and I firmly believe with his goal kicking and distribution skills he has a key role to play for us next season. He knows a number of our players very well including Dave Bargent, for whom he has worked with at the Exeter Chiefs Academy.
Hill continues:
"Our recruitment list was compiled quite some time ago, and we have been planning for this moment. Our recruitment for next season is very specific as we have absolute faith in the squad that we have here, for whom the majority have been at the club for at least the last three years, with a core having spent huge chunks of their lives working their way up the mini junior and into the senior section of the club."
