England Under 18's Trialist Dan Powell becomes a Cockle

Exmouth RFC have made their first signing of the 15-16 season with utility back and England Under 18's trialist Dan Powell arriving from Sidmouth and Exeter College.

Dan has played 9,10, 12 and 13 and will give the Cockles a number of options in the back line for next season, having just missed out on an England under 18's squad place earlier this year.

Head coach Jon Hill comments:

"Having seen Dan develop over the last 12 months, it is safe to say that he is a very talented rugby player who has a skill set that enables him to play a variety of positions. He has been superb for Exeter College this year and has been instrumental in the League and cup winning side, playing predominantly as a centre.

"After Having had a very good and purposeful chat with Mark Beavis at Sidmouth, Dan will come to Exmouth for pre season with the aim of him playing 1st xv rugby for us in National Three. Mark was supportive of the move and we are looking to build a relationship with our neighbours regarding player pathways.

"We have brought Dan to the club because we firmly believe he can make an impact and can continue to develop as a player at Exmouth RFC in the National leagues."

Dan can be seen welcomed to the club by former Captain Ross Morshead:
