Big Bang in Tiverton.

The match between Tiverton II and Exmouth Nomads kicked off promptly on Saturday despite delayed arrivals and a puncture on the M5 for one of the Exmouth contingent.

From kick off early pressure from Tiverton was rewarded with a penalty inside the Exmouth 22 but the attempt at goal was pushed wide. The Nomads responded immediately with some slick handling from Richard Cadywould and returning Sam Conway to set pacy Matt Wells through for his first try of the game. Cadywould converted to put the Exmouth side ahead 7-0 and also converted the next try from the goose-stepping Ross Matthews to push the score to 14-0. Tiverton tried to hit back by moving the ball across the pitch but the Nomads defence held firm. Matt Wells added to his first score by diving in the corner for an unconverted try, following some barnstorming runs from a spritely Dan Carey, before Ian Wathes showed great strength to fend off two opponents to dot down. Cady's conversion attempt drifted wide.

The second half belonged to the Exmouth team with Connor Smithers playing a man of the match performance in the second row and Martin Westaway putting in the tackle of the day on the unassuming Tiverton full back. Further tries were scored by Richie Guy, Aaron Conway and Richard Cadywould with Cadywould also converting twice. The game finished 43-0 due to the excellent defensive effort in the final 10 minutes to keep out the Tiverton team desperate to get some points on the board. 7 tries with 7 different scorers however it was New Dad Richard Cadywould personal tally of 13, proved that sleepless nights have not yet affected his game.
