Second half blitz seals win.

The Nomads were initially scheduled to play Torrington 2’s in a Merit Table match but Torrington cancelled mid-week, therefore Exmouth claimed the points.

A big thank you has to go to Crediton RFC for travelling to Exmouth on the train to ensure that a game took place this week. Thanks lads.

The first half was a bad tempered affair with a number of scuffles breaking out, largely due to the home side frustration in being unable to string any meaningful phases of play together. It was no surprise when Exmouth conceded first to trail 7 nil.

Exmouth finally managed to put a number of phases together which led to Ross Matthews running in an excellent try beating a number of defenders en-route to scoring between the posts. The Cockles second try wasn’t too far away with Charlie Garratt showing excellent dribbling skills to seize on a loose ball and hack over the line for a score. In keeping with the first half performance Crediton finished the half stronger scoring again leaving the score 14 -10.

Half time served to galvanise the Nomads and after some rather honest and brutal feedback the team were under no illusions of what was expected for the remaining 40 minutes and they promptly delivered.

Exmouth scored 4 tries in the second half from through Sam Millardship, Aaron Conway and Jos Urmston getting on the score-sheet twice. To their credit Crediton finished strongly scoring at the end of the contest to leave the final score 38–15.

With all 20 players making valuable contributions it wasn’t easy choosing a man of the match this week. Lloyd Murrin once again demonstrated his class throughout and kept the scoreboard ticking over hitting 4 of 6 conversions. Aaron Conway pipped him to the award this week though delivering a typical strong performance from the back of the scrum. The nightshirt this week went to Ross Matthews (pic) for dropping his handbag a number of times resulting in being shown a yellow card.
