Our Boys Work Hard for the Win.

The Mighty Nomads squad was pushed to its limits this week whilst making the short trip to Crediton 3rd team for the final league game of the season. The squad travelled with 16 players which were quickly reduced to 15 when JJ Burden felt the re occurrence of a previous week injury during the warm up forcing a further reshuffle of the team before kick-off. The reshuffle saw Sam Warren move from the wing into the back row which allowed a returning Connor MacDonald to switch back to his more familiar position of inside centre.

The Nomads won the game comfortably with a final score of 48 – 10, both centre’s Chris Wright-Junior and Connor MacDonald helped themselves to a brace each and a timely return to form for fullback Bobak Skelly saw him score a hat-trick. Nick Eveleigh playing only his second game of senior rugby kicked four of seven conversions. The only black mark for the day saw habitual offender Charlie Garratt (pic) see yellow again for a high tackle.

A third place finish for the season is a more than a respectable position to end the term for the Nomads. Hats off to Sidmouth & Ilfracombe who both finished above Exmouth this season, both have been far too good to handle with the hours both sides having put in on the training paddock has shone through when we played them. The Mighty Nomads will regroup over the off season and the target for next year will be to re-secure the league title when everything again kicks off in September.
