With 34 lads on tour in Amsterdam, the club was well represented on a great day of rugby. A little surprised by the addition of a fourth team, this turned out to be a mini tournament played close to full game time, 15-a-side.
The Cockles were expecting to play hosts, Rugby Club Haarlem & Old Haberdashers RFC (London). Also added were National League 2 side Barnes. Very warm conditions and the fact that The Cockles had to play their first two games back to back for some reason, did test the lads. Still, a win and two loses by a couple of points the boys did extremely well. Some great team performances from lads who play across the club sides.
Recovery Day saw the chaps take on a bicycle ride sightseeing through the parks and avenues of Amsterdam. What could possibly go wrong, especially with a couple of tandems?
Big thanks go to 1st XV team player Mark Wathes, who organised and coordinated the trip, the first in 10 years. Along with special help from a few of the boys from across our club.
