Match preview v Exeter Chiefs Academy Tuesday 19th August

Exmouth RFC are preparing to host an Exeter Chiefs Academy xv on Tuesday 19th August, at Exmouth Rugby Club, 6.45pm kick off, in their first pre season fixture ahead of the National league Season.

This is sure to be an exciting game, building on a close encounter last year, when the Chiefs gained a narrow victory. The fixture brings together two former Chiefs teammates in Fijian International Sireli Naqelevuki, who is set to run out in the back row for the Chiefs, against the Cockles' Chris Bentley, who will be in Exmouth's Second Row. Bentley commenting that he "intends on treating Sireli to a lesson or two in the dark arts!!!" (Assuming he can catch him!!)

Exmouth RFC's Head Coach, Jon Hill, is likely to give debuts, at some stage, to a number of pre season signings as he looks to gel a side together for the league season in September. Hill comments:

"It will be fantastic to once again welcome the Chiefs Academy to Exmouth. Last years game was thoroughly entertaining, and proved to be a great pre season game for us, played at a million miles an hour!! New signings Ollie Rice (full back), Jack Pyne (back 5 forward), Isaac Dalton (prop), Ollie Cave (Utility Back) and Ben Hawley (Back Row) are all likely to feature at some stage, along with Matt Harris (prop) and Brad Cooke (Second Row) who step up from the Colts. Hawley and Harris will be no strangers to many of the Chiefs players, having featured for the Exeter Chiefs academy in previous years.

"With almost everyone staying at the club from last year, and the return from long term injuries to Shane Cooper (prop), Jack Madge (hooker) and Paul Morgan (centre/wing), we look good in numbers for the season ahead. Stu Lowe and Chris Bentley have been working the forwards extremely hard in pre season, and Dave Bargent and Ali Hill have held some brutal fitness and conditioning sessions, so there is a good buzz about the place at the minute. We are also well aware of how hard this division is going to be this year, and hope that a season spent in National Two, will stand us in good stead for the forthcoming challenges."

Admission price entry on the night @ £5 , under 18s free , or a special offer of £10 to include a pasty and pint. Charges apply to members and non members
