The Cockles add Chris Gibbons to the squad , who signs from neighbours Withycombe RFC

Exmouth RFC bolster their front row with the signing of 26 year old loose head prop Chris Gibbons from neighbours Withycombe RFC, who is being sponsored by the South Beach Cafe at Devon Cliffs.

Gibbons is a skillful and dynamic prop forward who has benefited from playing regular rugby with Withycombe and approached the club to see if he could make the step up to National League rugby.

Head Coach Jon Hill comments:

"We are delighted to welcome Fridge (Gibbons) to the club and the early signs are ones of promise and potential. Chris has come in and worked hard and has shown some very good touches in games and in training. He has been vocal in defensive practices and has settled into the squad very well, making a real effort to mix with the boys. These are all very good signs and Chris has shown maturity and a desire to improve his game and test himself at a higher level. I really do believe that he could have a key role to play in the first xv this season.

"We are indebted to Mike Jones, complex manager at the South Beach Cafe, for his kind sponsorship of Chris. Another local business who are supporting the Cockles this season. Fridge is expected to feature in one of the two fixtures this Saturday when former National Three rivals Hornets (1.15) and then Welsh Premiership outfit Bargoed (2.45pm) visit the Imperial Ground".
