Exmouth ran out winners in a pulsating, highly competitive and exciting pre season friendly game played in superb spirits. Well done both teams

The Cockles started their pre season fixture campaign with a hard earned victory over South West One outfit Okehampton, who were impressive throughout.

Head Coach Jon Hill Comments:

"The game was a superb exercise for us to identify where we are and what we need to work on moving forward. I am delighted with the quality of the fixture and we hope, and have already been in discussions with Okehampton, about making this an annual fixture, such was the good feeling between the clubs and the standard of the game.

"We blew a few try scoring opportunities, made a lot of handling errors, and were inconsistent with our breakdown speeds, which have given us clear targets for the week ahead in our training week. You must give a lot of credit to Okey who worked very hard and played with an immense team spirit, looking very lively in broken field.

"Debutants Tom Whelan, Davy McGregor and Sam Richardson all showed up extremely well and look like astute signings. Pete Ingoldsby looked lively off the bench, and it was great to see Nick Smith in a 1st xv shirt!"

The Point Bar and Grill Man of the Match went to try scoring centre Henry Goldson (Pictured).
