Huge Thanks to Stuart Line Cruises who are sponsoring re-appointed Captain Dave Bargent Barge .... Boat ... See the link!!! ;)

Dave Bargent has once again been appointed 1st xv Captain of Exmouth for the coming season as the Cockles look to build on last years progress in National Three.

Dave is being sponsored by local business Stuart Line Cruises and Exmouth Land Train and looks set to lead the Cockles into battle in the first game of the season away to Barnstaple on September 5th.

Dave will be ably supported by Club Captain and centre Mark Wathes, who himself is a former Captain of the 1st xv and who last year filled the same role. Wathes will be responsible for all things off the field of play as the club look to build and foster greater links with the community.

Head Coach Jon Hill comments:

"Dave was appointed as 1st xv captain last year, but missed large chunks of the season due to injury. Tom Emery filled the role extremely well in his absence, who has now moved to play for Henley Hawks in National One.

"This will now be Dave's sixth season at the club, and he has always been 100% committed to the cause, doing over and above on and off the field of play. The passion and desire that he exudes has a clear impact on the boys around him and he serves as a great role model for the younger players at the club.

"We are delighted that he has accepted the role of 1st xv Captain, and we believe that Mark and Dave form a perfect partnership. We have a number of other senior players who will support them in their roles including the likes of Chris Bentley, James Harris, Ross Morshead and Ruairi Cushion, who are all experienced performers at this level and above."
