Silent Rugby Day on Sunday 23rd September.

We are proud to be supporting Deaf Awareness Week, 17th - 23rd September. Exmouth Rugby along with a number of local businesses, including club sponsor George Nightingales at Spoken, are supporting activities to raise awareness of The new Deaf Academy coming to the Town.

Rugby is a game that everyone can play and its core values, respect, teamwork, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship provide the platform. We want to partner with the New Deaf Academy and create positive steps towards inclusion for all. The opportunity to work with the New Deaf Academy and in particular Wales Deaf Rugby is an exciting prospect.

Our Silent Rugby Day on Sunday on 23rd September will see coaches, players and officials wearing ear plugs to run their sessions. To experience what deaf or hard of hearing people go through every day. We will also work on introductory BSL sessions where coaches, players and parents can drop in and learn basic finger-spelling. We want to reach out to new players, supporters and families who are seeking different activities. Some on down and meet BSL Bear too.

Exmouth Rugby Club’s under eights team will be making Deaf Academy-themed sandcastles on the beach from 6 pm on Monday as well.

Please check out; www.newdeafacademy.org.uk or contact David Wellbeloved on 01395 267059 or email info@newdeafacademy.org.uk to register for activities.
