Head Coach Jon Hill comments on last nights victory over an impressive and spirited Royal Navy (West) Divisional XV.

"This was a superb fixture for our 2nd xv and was a great opportunity to blood some of the impressive colts players, who will undoubtedly be pushing for senior spots after Christmas.

It was also an opportunity for all of the 1st xv coaches to see some of the fringe players in action, and give one or two more senior players more game time, who have featured on the bench, or returning from injury in recent weeks.

Ned Mills was outstanding, and a deserved man of the match. He is sure to be banging on the 1st xv selection door with performances like that. It was also good to see George Savage back in action after a spell on the sidelines. Sam Fulthorpe had a decent outing at nine , building on some solid performances with the colts, along with Joseph Oats, who despite looking in his mid twenties, is still only a colt!

It is these sorts of games that we crave , and allows us to plug the gap between 1st and 2nd xv rugby. The Royal Navy West side were lively and the game was played at a pace, which was a great spectacle.

A sound victory and a great fixture, we look forward to the return fixture at Devonport in a few weeks. In addition to this game, we have also confirmed a game against the Coldstream Guards Regiment, at home, on Thursday 16th November. This will provide another great opportunity to see some youngsters in action."

Kind Regards

Jon
