Coaches comments following 30-10 loss to Lydney

We were bitterly disappointed to have lost a game that we had a very good grip of and felt in control. Having gone 10-0 up inside the first half and having had a very dominant scrum, what happened next is somewhat worrying as we were a different side in the second half. You must give massive credit to Lydney, who came out fighting in the second half and made life very difficult for us. They are a quality side and in Sam Arnott, have a very dangerous player who made things happen for them.

We have talked about the psychology of 'compounding errors' that being when we make a mistake, then going on to make another , and another. We have suffered from this in the past and certainly suffered from this on Saturday. After 20 seconds of the second half , we conceded a penalty at a breakdown, and from this point onwards, continued to make errors and give penalties away and waste opportunities. We tried to play too deep and to be fair to Lydney, they pinned us back in our own 22 for long periods with an astute kicking game. Lydney are a good side and will be challenging the top of the table at the end of the season, however, we are very disappointed to have made so many mistakes and to have let Lydney get on top of us and dominate us for 40 mins.

We have an opportunity to put this right this weekend, and will be highly motivated to get our own back on Ivybridge, who beat us earlier in the season. The game is hugely important to us in order to keep the pressure on the teams around us and to build a challenge. It is a Devon Derby, and one that we must attack.

We hope to welcome back influential scrum half Ruairi Cushion to the squad , and have a number of fringe players pushing for inclusion this Saturday.

Saturday's game kick off at 2pm and is being sponsored by St Austell Brewery. FREE to members and under 16's, £7 non members (including programme), £6 for OAP.
