Coaches Comments from Disappointing Bracknell Loss

Head Coach Jon Hill comments:

"A nightmare start that saw Bracknell gain a bonus point for four tries within just 11 minutes of play pretty much summed up today's game. A horrendous start, a missed kick off, some poor tacking and all of a sudden we are under our sticks. A dropped ball, another missed tackle, flying out of a defensive line, and we are under our sticks again.

"We made far too many errors today , missed too many tackles, and hardly hit a line out all afternoon. We were turned over 9 times in open play, we knocked on four times on first phase ball, we messed up 3 kick offs. We were very poor all round. Bracknell were lively behind the scrum, and all too often scored from distance. They capitalised on errors, and moved the ball well to their outside backs.

"Far too many players were not at the races today , and that was very disappointing considering how much we have hurt in recent weeks following some poor performances. We are all accountable, and we will all work hard to address the slump. We are under performing, and we are accepting poor standards, coaches included.

"Ultimately, we came away from home and allowed ourselves to be totally dominated for an 11 minute period and the game was lost. The rest of the game was competitive , and even balanced , but the damage was already done. We continued to make errors , and when we gained field position we would lose the line out, or knock the ball on. It was a horror show, and on behalf of the players and coaching staff, we can only apologise to our supporters and members for a poor performance , and please be rest assured we will work hard to rectify and improve."

Debutants Lewis Cooper and Ned Mills both showed up well, and winger Jack Downie on his first start of the season gained the man of the match award.

Congratulations to Bracknell.

Tuesday, Thursday and next Saturday can't come soon enough ...

Regards

Jon
