Coaches Comments on 66-8 victory over Oxford Harlequins

"The manner of the victory was so pleasing considering that seven of our nine tries came from the outside backs, whilst also taking into account the disruption that we encountered before and during the game.

"With illness hitting the squad throughout the week, we fielded George Savage on the bench, and started Jack Fahy knowing that they would struggle to get through 80 minutes. We lost Dave Bargent overnight to the same illness and then lost Nigel Berry in the first half to what could be a serious injury resulting from a collapsed scrum. We finished the last 15 minutes with 14 men due to injuries, lost Henry Goldson to injury, and ended up with back rower James Harris playing the last 25 minutes in the centre!!! In addition to this, we also lost scrum half Garry Hooper to the sin bin for a 10 minute spell on the naughty step, So with all things considered, We did extremely well to score 66 points against a side fighting against, and now consigned to, relegation.

"George Meadows once again showed what a very good goal kicker he is and was able to punish the various penalties conceded by Quins throughout the game. The back three countered extremely well, and we looked deadly in broken field play. This was only made possible due to the inroads and physical presence of the likes of Chris Bentley, Ross Morshead and man of the match Olly Pyne, who was huge throughout.

"With the promotion play off in the bag, we now know that one more point from the last two games should secure us home advantage in the play off. We are also well aware that it is mathematically possible to still catch Redingensians above us, recognising that we need to beat them in two weeks time away from home, to put pressure on them in the last game of the league season.

Try scores: Bright x2, Ryan x2, Goldson x2, Rice, Morshead, Harris
Pens: Meadows x3
Cons: Meadows x6
