"Congratulations to Worthing on their superb performance yesterday. Their back line caused us problems by being very direct in their approach and we struggled to cope with the physicality of them at times. Clearly and obviously they were hugely motivated and focussed for the fixture and our attention to detail wasn't quite there yesterday in what was effectively a dead rubber for us but a cup final for them. Their set piece was solid, the back row worked extremely hard and they were a efficient unit all round.

"Human instinct and the fight or flight response meant that Worthing were always going to come out fighting. To a man, they were superb and punished our errors as a result. Our line out didn't function, and our back line defensive understanding wasn't quite there in a reshuffled squad. All too often we have had to make four or five changes to a seven man back line from week to week, and it was really exposed yesterday. This is one of the many aspects that we have to address moving forward. We are motivated and dedicated to put things right and drive a positive culture at the club. We have identified a number of areas to work on, and will spend time ensuring that we leave no stone unturned in creating an environment that builds on the core of the squad who have stuck together this season and can learn an awful lot from the experience of National Two rugby.

"What a final day off the season it was in National Two which epitomised sport and the reasons why we play it. There are very fine margins involved, and in the final five minutes of the season, at one stage in that five minute period, Barnstaple then London Irish, and then finally and terminally Barnes were eventually relegated. Mobile phones and twitter feeds were on the go throughout, 800 odd people created an amazing atmosphere and were let thoroughly entertained in the Sussex sunshine.

Roger Holman continues to work miracles on and off the pitch, and the small group of management have worked tirelessly to put teams out on the pitch,and do all of the organisation that is involved in running a Rugby club who have operated in the top 60 clubs in the country.
