A frustrating final 20 minutes in an entertaining game

Coaches comments

"As coaches we were delighted with the performance in the first 60 minutes, and can't fault the endeavour, the application and effort of our guys. Tactically we did everything that we had planned for and set out to do, and nullified the threats that we knew Cinderford would pose. Having led 12-10 at half time, and then dominated the first 20 minutes after half time , it is hugely frustrating that we did not go onto win the game.

"We started strongly, and dominated territory and possession with a good set piece return. Unfortunately for us, once again, we failed to turn territorial dominance into points and the crucial third quarter saw us camped in the opposition 22 but we failed to come away with the points that would have put us in the lead and in a commanding position.

"Cinderford were efficient and well drilled, and took their chances when they were created. They also punished our errors, showing what a good side they are, and why they were in National One last season.

"Captain for the day Dave Bargent was superb for us, scoring two tries , and Mike Richards once again showed how effective he can be as a national league rugby player with a superb game in the engine room. John Kelly and Ollie Rice made some excellent carries and defended well, and Aiden Taylor gave a masterclass in throwing. If truth be known. When it came to the crucial moments in the game , we made too many errors, and as a result , we have lost a game that we felt was winnable.

"We regroup and refresh and look forward to the final five games of the season".
