An 18 minute Cockles blitz from Kick Off secured the try bonus point.

Tries from Jack Downie on 2 minutes, Dave Bargent, 9 mins, Henry Goldson on 11 mins and George Meadows on 18 minutes, gave Tom Whelan the opportunity to secure the conversions. All 4 achieved in difficult, blustery conditions, gave the home side the perfect start to 28-0. Old Patesians arrived as basement team in the league however their fight and determination proved to be such that they regrouped with their first score from Scrum Half Tom Knight, converted by Full Back Lee Hathaway. 28-7. Their revival was short lived although the visitors had their chances, once again the home side defence held firm. Jack Downie went over for his second try, missed conversion 33-7. With 35 mins on the clock James Aherne crossed for Old Pats, 33-12. Racing toward half time there was a flurry of activity towards the Old Pats line. A catch from a line-out and drive on 15 metres got the home side in strike range. From an attack, a yellow card for opposition Fly Half Matt Dean gave Exmouth a penalty. They chose to take the scrum which resulted in No 8 Dave Bargent heading over for his second try, 38-12 at the break.

If the expectant support were waiting on a try fest in the second period they were to be slightly frustrated. Both teams made errors in handling, perhaps a result of the conditions. To their credit both sides did try to play running rugby. 17 minutes in to the second half Second Row Mike Richards collected his try, Whelan added the extras. 45-12. Richards did have an opportunity to cross again, after making a bulldozing break and having to run in from half way. With two defenders clambering over him he was eventually brought down after a 40 meter sprint. This attack fizzled out, however Henry Goldson repeated the trick, running in from half way to collect his second try of the afternoon, 50-12. With 15 minutes left on the clock Old Patesians decided they were after a try bonus point of their own. Despite efforts from the home side to score, it was Marcus Raymond who went over for the visitors, 50-17. Then a speedy restart and Old Patesians worked to get a final score on 77 minutes, Lee Hathaway touched down, converted by Raymond, this closed the game at 50-24. The visitors earned their consolation one point reward.

5 league point gained for Exmouth, they now stand 3rd in the South West Premier League, after 8 games.
