Exmouth under 11's play a blinder and win away against Torquay
Exmouth under 11’s were jubilant following a fantastic win against Torquay on Sunday. The young Cockles came out fighting in the first half and following some lovely ball passing Aaron Brigham-Jones the scrum half was over the line for the first of Exmouth’s 7 tries. The Cockles determination continued and Tommy Sanderson secured another try following a blistering show of pace, to break through the Torquay defence then Brigham-Jones also secured his second try with some nifty footwork. Torquay pulled a try back in the first half as the Exmouth defence that had held them off so valiantly let them slip through to open their scoring.
The home side started strongly at the start of the second half and they breached the Cockles defence again for their second try. Exmouth kept their heads and with some excellent teamwork managed to break through the Torquay tackles again and another try was the result, this time by Jack Greenaway, much to the delight of himself and his Dad/Coach Mark Greenaway.
Torquay then managed to break through the Exmouth ranks one more time for their third and final try, they continued to attack the Exmouth lines but some superb tackling by Charlie Mears, Eddie Hooper and Cormac O'Mahony managed to keep them away from the visitors try line.
Some good work by the Exmouth forwards saw Aaron Brigham-Jones get the ball over the Torquay line for his hat trick with young Sanderson again showing his pace late in the second half to score his second try. This was followed by a second try for Jack Greenaway and all the Exmouth tries were converted cleanly by Nick Eveleigh.
A well deserved win by the young Cockles who played very well as a team and deserve a pat on the back for their performance.
