Former Championship front rower Davy McGregor signs for Exmouth following a stint in National One with Cinderford, and more recently with local rivals Brixham, where he combined his rugby with a strength and conditioning coaching role.
The versatile forward becomes a high profile signing on the eve of pre-season starting and is sure to give the Cockles Coaches plenty of options across the front row this coming season. He will combine playing with a coaching consultancy role at the club.
Head Coach Jon Hill comments:
“We are absolutely delighted to have signed Davy following failed attempts to get him to the club last season. He is good friends with Ruairi Cushion, knows James Harris well from his time at Albion, and knows Richard Bright and Jack Fahy from coaching with the Community Chiefs. Everyone who speaks about Davy, does so with high regard and comments on his true professional qualities on and off the field. He certainly impressed me with his attitude and his honesty throughout all of our discussions, and his versatility is another fine quality bearing in mind the smaller squad size this season.
“He is an experienced player who will offer us a lot on and off the pitch, with what is a young squad. We really feel he can bring on the game of those around him and we hope to tap into his knowledge throughout the season.
